Welcome!
Active members needed!

A Union is no more and no less than it’s members, and exists solely to protect the interests of those members – whether it is the RBA, the United Kingdom, the European Union, or the United States of America; unity is strength!

To be strong, we need lots of members, and they need to be active – in two particular ways:

1. by keeping in touch with their elected representatives and RBA Central Office; and

2. by helping the RBA and thus themselves, by encouraging others to join.

This doesn’t take a great deal of effort, and the personal approach really counts. Many of your colleagues may not have joined yet simply because they have not been asked, particularly new and part time workers.

Tell your friends about the RBA, encourage them to take part. You will be better off for it and so will your friend, as the more there are in membership, the harder it is for employers to ignore us. If every member just recruited one friend or colleague (we can represent them wherever they work), then we would obviously be twice as strong as we are now!

There are always vacancies for elected representatives, at Branch (store) level, and at District level. These roles are carried out by people like you, retail employees who care about their work and their colleagues.

It is not a difficult task, and paid time off is allowed by employers to carry out such work.
The Reps and Delegates we have certainly enjoy the role – between them, our current Delegates have been active in supporting their colleagues for a total of over 500 years!

That’s a lot of dedication and care, and a great deal of experience and understanding of what it is like to work in retail.

Instead of seeing something that concerns you and saying to yourself
“Someone should do something about that”,
be the someone who does!
